This week I’ve done a ton of assignment banks and daily creates just cause I can.

It’s fun to see what you can do and be creative in what you make with these, and you don’t just have to end with doing one, why not bring it back up again, or even redo it to make it better some time later.

In the daily create 2076 I used the paint tool and just drew dots all over the place, in 2078 I just looked for a GIF that kinds described my moment I was talking about, (in no way did I make that GIF and or take credit for it,) and in 2079 I grabbed a picture of a paperback book I felt was suiting the idea I wanted and changed the title. The daily creates are suppose to be simple fast and easy, please do not overthink these, unless of course you want too.

Now for the Assignment banks which are harder and take longer, #3 I used adobe InDesign and within that drew and duplicated everything with the pen tool, I also made the writing and angled in the software too. I finally transferred it to Photoshop and added a background to it.

#4 I used Photoshop and a bunch of different images. All I did was use a background image, velociraptor claws and tail, and a house cat standing up photo. I used the selection wand for 90% of this, as well as copy and paste.

#5 I used Adobe Illustrator one of my favorite programs and grabbed a poem about life and death in which I felt was interesting, (I usually write my own poems, however I didn’t have the time, sorry 😦 !) I than blacked out the background, wrote the poem, and decided to draw the background how I felt it would look. I like this one a lot and might do it some more in the future.

That’s everything for this week, if you feel interested in anything go ahead and check it it all out at these locations!

Daily Create #DS106 #tdc2079

I participated in the daily create today with this image, tdc2079

Today was about Paperback Paradise, it you have never heard of Paperback Paradise, it’s where you grab a paperback book, and change the title of it! It pretty fun to do and can be quite humorous.

Assignment Bank 5 #DS106 (4 star)

I did “Poetry Art” in the Visual area this time.

PoetryArt

Now I know it’s a dark poem, however I prefer poems with meaning even though I love to fantasize and be creative all the time. I don’t know I guess I’m just weird, and you can only take so much fantasy.

Now go ahead give it a try, no ones gonna judge you for trying and it’ll be great, maybe you’ll find a friend along the way.

If you want to try it yourself and do way better than I did, you can find it here, http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/poetry-art/

Assignment Bank 4 #DS106 (3 star)

I moved to “Here Kitty Kitty” (interesting name) in the Visual area this time.

HereKittyKitty

now right away I know you notice cats, okay let me tell you I totally forgot the name when I did this assignment bank and when I looked back I laughed so hard, because there are not just cats. They are Kittylocirapators and they are very, very dangerous. they not only hunt in packs of 2-5, but have seen up to 50 with a “felinawomanese.” (aka old cat ladies) They can hunt and kill with a swift bite to the neck and you best hope you have a ball of yarn on you for each one. Oh and there top running speed is 100-150 mph.

Assignment Bank 3 #DS106 (4 star)

I did “Book Artist” Design assignment this time.

BookArtist

I ahhhh went a little overboard with it, but I feel like it’s fine. I used Photoshop and InDesign for the picture and words structure. As well as the “penmanship.”

Daily Create #DS106 #tdc2078

I participated in the daily create today with this GIF,

A little bit more information, is that yes I have been to the Hospital, several times, some very dangerous and all life threatening. For you see I was an epileptic teen at the time. 13 years old I would say. I had not been a very good kid either, pretty spoiled and got what I wanted most of the time, unless it was outlandish of course. but I than had an Epileptic attack at my grandma’s house who happened to be a nurse. I than rode in the back of an ambulance to Wichita, having an attack for more than 4 straight hours. When I finally awoke the next day I decided that I really need to appreciate my family and stuff more, because sometimes it’s all your going to have.

Sorry for the long post. Go ahead and feel free to share your thoughts on the Daily Create, if you don’t want to than I don’t blame you!

Learning Reflection 3

This week of Hardware and Network Fundamentals I learned about the OSI model and network devices.

The OSI model in order from 1-7 is Physical, Data link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, and Application. We also learned about what devices like cables, switches and bridges, routers, and connectors go in. We learned what PDU goes with what layer.

  1. Physical: The physical layer deals with bit-level transmission between different devices.
  2. Data link: The data link layer is used for the encoding, decoding and logical organization of data bits.
  3. Network: The network layer provides data routing paths for network communication.
  4. Transport: The transport layer is responsible for end-to-end communication over a network.
  5. Session: the session layer controls the connections between multiple computers.
  6. Presentation: The presentation layer is used to present data to the application layer in an accurate, well-defined and standardized format.
  7. Application: The application layer is protocols that focus on process-to-process communication across an IP network, provides a firm communication interface, and end-user services.

Finally I posted some stuff on Diigo.com. Don’t know what it is go visit and give it a try.

*Psst: It’s a site where you can get some cool info sharing from other cool people, need to know something, ask, and get a direct link to a website. Pretty cool, huh!

Lab 2: Network Cables

Jayce Hovis         9-14-17
Objectives:
My objective is to make a twisted-pair cable that that is reliable and correct.
Equipment list:
– Crimp Tool
– Wire Cutter and/or Scissors
– Cable Insulation Stripper
– Roughly 3 foot length of CAT5 UTP, (CAT5e works too)
– 2 RJ-45 Connectors
– Network System that you have verified works with a reliable twisted-pair cable.
– Patch Panel
– Punch-Down Tool
Notes and Observations:
We ended up with teams in this lab, however it is not necessary.
We started out estimating our 3 foot Cat5e UTP, (most of our cable was CAT5e and not CAT5, the difference is a little brush hair, and you just need to cut that off with scissors.) The next thing we did was use the Cable Insulation Stripper* and clip it on the end of the wire*, about 2-3 inches in. Once we got it on we made it go around twice and than un-clipped the Cable Insulation Stripper and finally yanked off the cable. I untwisted the Wires, while my partner did the other side. We than smooth them out by holding on the the bottom and yanking down, than up, than down, and than up, with a little force. We put them in order left to right, Stripped orange, orange, stripped green, blue, stripped blue, green, stripped brown, brown. we than grabbed a RJ-45 connector and clipped to length of it. We finally shoved the wires into the RJ-45 connector and used the Crimp tool to crimp it. My partner did the other side.
We grabbed another rough estimated 3 foot Cat5e UTP cable, however this time we are suppose to attach it to a patch panel. We used the Cable Insulation Stripper to remove both ends of the cable and than only unwound the very bottom of the cable while trying to put them in order***. We put them in order by patch panel T568B left to right, stripped blue, blue, stripped orange, orange, stripped green, green, stripped brown, brown. We than used a Punch-Down tool to lock them in and make sure they weren’t leaving unless we wanted them too. Finally we tested are circuit.
Questions:
What are some disadvantages and advantages of using Thinnet and/or Thicknet as compared to UTP?
Advantages: UTP is susceptible to interference. Which can cause you to have trouble with your “connection.”
Disadvantages: Thicknet is hard to work with, and Thinnet/Thicknet is more expensive.
What are advantages and disadvantages of using fiber optic cables?
Advantages: Higher bandwidth, not affected by power surges and power failure, way lighter, and finally excellent security.
Disadvantages: Recently discovered, so unfamiliar and unique skills are needed, installation is expensive and not very tough.
*Make sure the Cable Insulation Stripper is not clipped on too hard or it will damage the wires. Also make sure that you do not move the Cable Insulation Stripper once you have clipped, it is only able to be clipped and un-clipped.
**Please make sure that the wire is not damaged on the end or it will not work. If it is than just use the scissors to cut off a small piece of the end.
***You still want to keep the cable twisted but you want to loosen it up by only unwouding the bottom or closest to you.
Conclusions:
In conclusion this was a hefty lab and we did a lot of work, I was glad we did partners though, and it helped pushing the pace. I believe we made a reliable cable and had fun doing it. you got to get down and close up with this one. Make sure you are in there.
